Globe Challenge For Android

Competition Mechanics

The Globe Challenge for Android is open to all developers. Interested developers can start submitting their application proposals beginning April 2010.

Proposal and Entry Checklist

Interested developers have to submit their proposals in order to join the Globe Challenge for Android. Each participating team has to choose one (1) category from the five (5) available categories. The categories have requirements and mandatory features that must be present in the proposal and the final applications developed for that category. Also, applications to be developed must operate on Android mobile platform using the Android Software Development Kit (SDK) not lower than version 1.5.

Judging Process

Entries submitted will undergo two rounds of judging--the elimination round and online voting. On the elimination round, the applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria—Overall Appeal, Originality, Ease of Use and Richness & Relevance. For the online voting, the chosen finalists will be posted online and evaluated based on number of downloads and user evaluation. Scores from the elimination round will be consolidated with the online voting results to choose the top winner on each of the categories.

Choose your Category

Developers can choose one of the five categories—Games, Messaging and Communications, Entertainment, Social Networking, and Productivity. An application can only be submitted to a single category.

Prizes

The chosen 25 finalists will receive Php25,000 each. And the top 5 winners will receive additional Php50,000 each.

Aside from the cash prizes, chosen participating teams have the chance to get international funding with the help of Plug and Play Tech Center.

Registration deadline for the competition is on May 3, 2010. Registration is done by submitting a proposal in the competition page of the Globe Labs Portal (www.globelabs.com.ph).
